Financial Support for Students
We recognize that student participation at WebSci is an important part of their professional and educational development and also critical for growing our community. Costs associated with conference attendance can be prohibitive, so we offer the following opportunities to help offset costs for students. Students may apply for one or both of these opportunities, depending on their needs. Students with other sources of financial support are encouraged NOT to apply so that funds may be directed to those who would otherwise be unable to attend WebSci19.
Student Travel Awards
Thanks to generous support from SIGWEB, we have a limited number of travel awards available for students who lack other support opportunities to attend WebSci. This travel award is intended to support students who will present at WebSci19, not just attend. Students may apply for up to USD$750 to cover the cost of travel and lodging for WebSci19. Note: the travel awards are dispersed as reimbursements, and cannot be used for registration fees (see student volunteer opportunities below).
You can find more information and apply for student travel awards here. Applications must include a statement from a faculty advisor confirming financial need. Applications are due on April 30, 2019. They will be evaluated by the conference organizing committee and selected on a needs-basis. Recipients will be notified no later than May 5, 2019 so that they may take advantage of early registration discounts.

We are seeking student volunteers to help with conference logistics, including but not limited to, conference registration, guiding people to and from various event venues, assisting with conference presentations and Q&A, and helping with workshops and tutorials. Students who volunteer at least 15 hours during the conference will be given a waiver for their Full Conference Registration fee. Interested students MUST be available for the duration of the conference, starting at 8am on Sunday, June 30 through 5pm on Wednesday, July 3. Students who are presenting at the conference are encouraged to apply; your presentation schedule will be accommodated.
